Dear Copper Creek Families,
I am absolutely thrilled to continue serving as your Copper Creek Elementary School Principal! My roots in this wonderful community run deep. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving our students and families in many roles: as a Special Education Teacher, Third Grade Teacher, Reading Specialist, and Assistant Principal. Copper Creek also holds a special place in my heart as a parent; my own children, now 26 and 21, received strong educational foundations right here in these very hallways.
This year marks my 31st year in education, and my core mission remains exactly the same: ensuring every single child receives the best possible learning experience. To anchor this commitment, our team spent time reflecting on what makes our school community so special, and we are proud to share our newly updated mission statement: Every Bobcat, Every Day, Learning and Growing at The Creek. This mission is at the heart of everything we do, and I fundamentally believe that this kind of meaningful growth happens best through collaboration. By fostering strong, trusting relationships with our parents, students, staff, and the broader community, we create an environment where every Bobcat can truly thrive.
Whether we are continuing our journey together or you are brand new to the Bobcat family, I am so excited to collaborate with you. My door is always open. Whether you want to reach out via email, stop by the office, or simply say hello when you see me on campus or in the community, I look forward to partnering with you. Together, we will help our students reach their full potential!
Warmly,
Christina Myers

Assistant Principal - Jenniffer Frugone

Dear Bobcat Families,
I am thrilled to begin my second year at Copper Creek! After a wonderful first year building relationships with our students, staff, and families, one of my favorite perks of Year 2 is walking around campus and greeting students by name. Although I have only been at Copper Creek for a short time, I truly feel like I have found my home. This community is incredibly special, and I am grateful to be part of the Bobcat family.
This year marks my 25th year in education and 22nd year serving the DVUSD community. Having taught grades 2–6 and worked in both self-contained and resource special education settings, I firmly believe that meaningful relationships come first. When students feel valued, understood, and supported, they thrive. This remains central to our mission: Every Bobcat, Every Day: Learning, Growing, and Achieving at the Creek.
Though my title has transitioned from Dean to Assistant Principal, my commitment to our Bobcats remains unchanged. Whether greeting them with high fives, celebrating victories, or guiding them through challenges, my focus is on ensuring our school inspires students to grow and reach their highest potential.
My husband and I are proud DVUSD parents of three amazing children. Aubrey is a sophomore at the University of Arizona, pursuing her dream of becoming a sports medicine physician. Our son, Maksym, is a senior at Sandra Day O’Connor High School, and this mom hopes he follows in his sister’s footsteps and becomes a future Wildcat, so I don’t have to change up my Arizona swag anytime soon. Our youngest, Aryana, is entering seventh grade at Hillcrest Middle School.
Outside of school, you’ll usually find me cheering on my kids from the sidelines and celebrating the moments that matter most. I also love hearing about and celebrating our Bobcats’ accomplishments beyond the classroom, whether it’s sports, music, dance, clubs, or other passions.
I look forward to another incredible year of learning and making memories at the Creek. Whether you are returning or new to the Bobcat family, I am excited to partner with you. My door is always open, so please stop by, email, or say hello on campus.
Welcome back, Bobcats!

Nurse Sara

For More Health Center Information Click here
My name is Kristen Ramsey, and I have been a nurse for almost 21 years. I have spent my nursing career working in the hospital setting and am looking forward to learning new things in a more community-based area of nursing. I have most recently been working as a postpartum nurse caring for moms and their newborns. I am passionate about educating and caring for others. My favorite part of nursing is connecting with people, and I am so excited to connect with your children and care for them while they are at school.
I was born and raised in Arizona. I have been married for 17 years and have four children. My oldest two are twin girls who attended Copper Creek and now attend Hillcrest. My third is my son, who has one more year at Copper Creek, and my youngest daughter is just finishing Kindergarten at Copper Creek. We have been so happy with the Copper Creek community for our family. I am looking forward to becoming a bigger part of this community and look forward to meeting you all!
School Psychologist - Megan Olson

My name is Megan Olson, and I’m thrilled to be returning for my second year as the School Psychologist here at Copper Creek—once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat! In addition to supporting our amazing students and staff on campus, I also serve on the district’s Preschool and Autism evaluation teams.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Social Justice from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, and went on to receive both my Master’s and Education Specialist degrees in School Psychology from Northern Arizona University.
A little about me...
I’m originally from a small town in Wisconsin—Go Pack Go! Fun fact: my hometown is the only place in the U.S. that makes Limburger cheese. Outside of work, I love hiking, reading, and spending time with my two energetic pups, Indie (a Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix) and Ollie (a Cattle Dog).
I’m so excited for another great year at Copper Creek and look forward to continuing to support our students, families, and staff!
School Counselor - Giovanna McDermott

"As the counselor at Copper Creek Elementary School, I look forward to partnering with you and your child this year. I will be working closely with our principal, Dean, school psychologist, and teachers to determine what needs are in the best interest of students.
My background includes having taught high school English, ESL, and worked as a reading specialist. My counseling background was with high school, middle school and the Dept. of Juvenile Corrections. During my career I have continued to teach both critical reading and ESL classes for Phoenix College.
Some of the services offered this school year are small groups; individual counseling, school related issues, and lessons emphasizing personal and social awareness. While my role does not include discipline, I will assist with behavior strategies for positive outcomes.
I am happy to be part of Copper Creek’s team where we are dedicated to helping children succeed socially, emotionally, and academically."
